Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution
Customer service work experience with a demonstrated concern for and delivery of exceptional customer support.  Preferred experience in financial aid, admissions, or other related student services area within a higher education setting
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups of people in both oral
   and written formats
Ability to thoroughly assist with the informational needs of individuals
Proven leadership ability in working with students and the general public
Skill in the use of computers (MS Office 2007) and commitment to using technology
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to provide leadership in anticipating and responding to change
Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college
Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
  - Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action

Position Description

SUMMARY:

The Student Enrollment Specialist is responsible for communicating enrollment information and providing enrollment services to students.  The specialist will assist students and visitors by providing general information about admission, financial aid, and student records from the front desk in the Enrollment Center. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Enrollment Specialist reports to the Lead Enrollment Counselor and has the following responsibilities:

  •  Provides student-centered, excellent customer service, welcoming students, faculty, and staff.
  •  Maintains current knowledge of enrollment matters including application processes for admissions and financial aid, academic programs, paperwork needed to support applications, and procedures for course schedule changes and transcript requests.
  •  Provides prospective students with guidance on completing admission, financial aid, and other related enrollment paperwork by assessing needs and asking appropriate questions.
  •  Assists students in using the College website to answer general questions, locate forms, complete admission applications, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), access StormTrac and other related sites such as Blackboard and Google Student e-mail account, CFNC, etc.
  •  Facilitates and assists in implementing Enrollment Information Sessions (EIS).
  •  Receipts enrollment documents submitted by students (applications, transcripts, test scores, financial aid supporting documents, etc.) in the student information system and evaluates for completion.
  •  Responds to Call Center tickets and answers Enrollment Center calls, returning voicemail and email messages as quickly as possible.
  •  Assists with various recruitment and outreach campaigns by contacting students via email and phone.
  •  Prepares all types of out-going student communications for Enrollment Services.
  •  Maintains confidentiality of student records by following FERPA regulations, carefully monitoring student records at the workstation for security, and properly store all student records.
  •  Maintains sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
  •  Participates in campus visitation programs, new student orientations, campus retention programs, and commencement events.
  •  Performs other duties as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus and College locations; travel between campus locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication (written, oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers.
