Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing, or related areas.
- Two or more years of relevant work experience involving employer outreach and recruiting, job placement or workforce development.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and ability to work with a diverse student body.
- Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid communication, networking, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Position Description
The Student Job Developer is a part-time professional who develops, coordinates and maintains student employment opportunities in collaboration with the Director, Career Development. This position also serves as a liaison to students, alumni and the local business community. The position reports to the Director, Career Development and has the following responsibilities:
Provides employment leads and opportunities to students enrolled in curriculum programs and individuals completing Continuing Education programs that are seeking part-time and full-time employment.
Engages employers and builds relationships that promote the hiring of students and develop opportunities for student job placement and off campus internships.
Meets and recruit prospective employers by attending networking events such as job fairs, Chamber of Commerce and other Davidson and Davie County community events.
Maintains a student resume repository and use it to promote students to employers.
Refers students to the Student Employment Counselor for resume and cover letter writing assistance and employment interview coaching as needed.
Develops relationships with College faculty and facilitate faculty/employer meetings as needed and communicate hiring needs of area employers.
Serves on various academic program advisory boards and encourage future participation by area employers.
Partners with the Student Employment Counselor to distribute information on jobs and hiring events to students on a timely basis.
Assists the Student Employment Counselor with coordinating remote and in person campus job fairs and employer hiring events.
Maintains various means of communication with students (i.e. website, e-mail, social media sites, etc.).
Collaborates with the Director in planning goals and objectives regarding student employment and internships.
Compiles monthly reports of activities including employer contacts and student job development data.
Partners with the Student Employment Counselor to market employment and internship services to students on an ongoing basis through classroom visits, social media posts, emails, virtual meetings, and other methods.
Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
Participates in professional development appropriate to the functions of the position and professional interests
Supports the mission, vision, values and initiatives of the College.
