• Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in recruitment student services or counseling in an academic environment. Experience in effective supervisory/office management techniques. Experience in public speaking, educational marketing and recruitment. Experience in program coordination.

Position Description

The Student Recruitment and Orientation Coordinator is responsible for the overall recruitment and orientation efforts at Mitchell Community College. Plans new student recruitment, orientation, community outreach, open house events and college wide recruitment plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Recruits prospective students. Coordinates with Student Services, Learning and Continuing Education to facilitate consistent delivery of outreach and orientation services
• Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services, assists in developing and implementing county-wide, campus based, and program specific recruitment strategies. Coordinates high school and community visitation programs. Plans and coordinates campus and informational workshops, college visitations and tours, college fairs, community visits, etc. to inform the public about educational opportunities at Mitchell Community College. Designs and develops targeted and strategic outreach programs.
• Designs and coordinates the new student orientation program. Evaluates and makes recommendations for changes and improvements to the orientation based on established best practices. Recruits presenters/facilitators and conducts train-the trainer sessions.
• Serves as co-manager of the CRM Fireworks software
• Tracks statistics, gathers data, and writes reports. Monitors and reviews assigned budgets
• Assumes lead role for events and programs on campus, including coordinating the work of others involved in these programs.
• Collaborates with Mitchell’s marketing and communications department to design and implement recruitment plan.
• Serves as a liaison to high school counselors, career development coordinators and student services staff within the Iredell Statesville School System and the Mooresville Graded School District.
• May present overview of steps to financial aid
• May supervise part time staff
• Performs other duties as assigned

Surroundings/Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office environment with a high level of public contact, both over the phone and in person.

Physical Effort:
Occasional light lifting of large quantities of recruiting materials and display equipment that may weigh 30 – 50 pounds required. During peak recruiting seasons requires long hours of standing on cement and gym floors.

Scheduling:
This is a full-time position. Work hours vary throughout the recruitment year. Normal working hours will be between 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday; however, must be available to work on weekends and evenings.

Travel:
Local travel is required, including between campus locations. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for recruitment and special trainings/conferences.
