OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Student Services Coordinator provides advising services to new and returning students in areas pertaining but not limited to graduation and transfer requirements, careers and career goals, outreach and recruitment, and student progress. This position also provides guidance and mentoring to optimize the student experience, improve student retention and success, and assist the College in achieving its mission and vision of service to the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Two (2) years’ experience in student services or working with military populations.

Preferred:

Experience using Colleague.

Experience within the North Carolina Community College System.

Knowledge

  • Community college admissions, programs of study and registration processes
  • Transfer requirements and articulation agreements
  • College policies and procedures, academic requirements, campus resources, student life and support services
  • Customer service and customer relations principles
  • Current trends, technologies and initiatives related to student success
  • Test evaluation and measurement

  • Interpersonal skills with proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate professional behavior that supports team efforts and enhances team behavior, performance, and productivity
