Position Description
Job Summary:
This position provides customer service to faculty, staff, students, and visitors; provides accurate information to students regarding admissions, registration, financial aid, placement testing, tuition payments and general college information. The position will respond to general questions about the College’s academic programs, and the enrollment processes. This person provides administrative support to the Admissions, Advising, and/or Financial Aid departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides general information regarding admissions, financial aid, student records and important college deadlines to students, faculty and staff via on-line, by phone or in person inquiries
• Collect, process, scan, and copy student enrollment documents; checking for accuracy and ensuring students have submitted required documents
• Provide students with status updates regarding their enrollment, registration and next steps
• Update and schedule weekly admissions appointments using current sign-up
• Assist students with computer kiosk use for services related to the admissions application, transcript requests, Self-Service, etc
• Respond to admission voicemails and e-mails (as needed)
• Provide clerical support to the college and student services division by responding to all incoming questions, and making appropriate referrals
• Provides coverage to the College reception desk as needed
Related Responsibilities:
• Support on-campus enrollment activities including college information sessions, new student orientation, and graduation activities
• Monitor level of supplies
• Assist with the proctoring of student placement examinations
• Assist with all enrollment and retention outreach activities
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, typing and web browsers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work in a congenial and professional manner with students, faculty and staff
• Understanding of and commitment to open-access community college philosophy and diversity issues
• Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team
Surroundings/Environment:
Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements.
Physical Effort:
The work is sedentary in nature although includes periods of moving about the office or between buildings and locations. Work may require sitting for extended periods viewing a computer; and will require occasional movement of up to 15 lbs.
Scheduling:
This is a part-time position, working 25-29 hours per week. Office hours, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. Must be available to work flexible work hours, as coverage requires and to work occasionally on weekends and evenings.
Travel:
Local travel is required, including between campus locations.
