Position Description
The Student Success/ADA Advisor will serve as the primary point of contact and referral in admissions for matters related to the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations for students with documented disabilities, and drug and alcohol prevention activities throughout the College. The Advisor will engage faculty and staff on retention strategies for at-risk students, support the efforts of Title IX and VAWA compliance as an investigator, and make referrals for students requiring external mental health services.
The duties of the Student Success/ADA Advisor include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate services for students with disabilities while ensuring that the College is in compliance with Section 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Assist students with educational concerns as related to requests for accommodations; assist with college recruiting and retention efforts
- Assist students with scheduling during registration
- Promote drug and alcohol prevention efforts with students by engaging faculty and staff through seminars, online resources, and class activities
- Serve as a trained investigator for matters related to Title IX and VAWA
- Serve as a point of contact for student discipline matters in the absence of the Dean of Student Services
- Coordinate professional, individual, and group counseling referrals and on-campus sessions for students to enhance their growth, development, and progress related to admissions, academic, social, and personal concerns
- Support retention activities and provide opportunities for students to develop social, personal, and teamwork skills through extracurricular activities
- Serve as liaison to the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and other community agencies
- Provide scheduled ADA services to students during evening hours
- Participate in staff development and professional conferences, workshops, and seminars
- Serve on college committees as designated by the President and/or the Senior Vice President of Instruction and Student Services
- Compile statistical reports and information as needed
- Participate in college activities including faculty/staff meetings
- Participate with graduation exercises and other scheduled events
- Identify and raise awareness of common themes that may impact the performance efforts of faculty, staff, and students
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
