The Purpose

The Success Coach serves as the main point of contact for an assigned group of students to guide them to achieve academic success. The Coach works to counsel, motivate, assess student needs, goals, and interests, and review prior academic experience. Coaches use review of predictive analytical data to provide targeted outreach efforts to students who fall into an at-risk category. Coaches provide a high level of customer service support and ensure students are made aware of all available college resources to assist them in achieving academic success.

What You'll be Doing

• Work with Director of Enrollment Management and faculty in regards to retention initiatives for the College
• Provide proactive and individualized success coaching to a student caseload facilitated by an early alert/advising system powered by predictive analytics
• Identify and provide proactive outreach to at risk students connecting them to intentional intervention and student support activities.
• Use Predictive Analytics to identify barriers to success, persistence, and completion and create individualized Student Action Plans
• Design high-tech, high-touch supports utilizing Aviso
• Empower caseload of students to effectively communicate with faculty and student services and become better connected to resources and support services such as financial aid, career services, disability services and community resources.
• Work with appropriate personnel to develop coaching resources
• Participate in training and other professional development activities
• Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in education, counseling, human services, or a related field Preferred Master's degree in counseling, higher ed, or related field OR bachelor's degree plus at least three years of related experience

Experience

Min. one year of experience in counseling, advising, or related area, required; Experience working in community college or higher education setting preferred

Skills and the Know-How

The ideal person will possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position.

Physical Demands

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
