Minimum Qualifications

Training:

A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, behavioral sciences, or a closely related field is required. 

Experience:

Two years of increasingly responsible academic, career, and personal coaching and admissions experience or other relevant instructional coaching responsibilities is required.

Position Description

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

 

  • Function as a team member within the Corporate and Continuing Education Division.

 

  • Serve as an advocate for student success and career development by forging relationships between faculty, students, and staff members of the College.

 

  • Share in general departmental admissions duties and coaching responsibilities to include, but not limited to, interpreting and applying College admission standards and policies in determination of student eligibility and standing.

 

  • Provide follow-up response for Early Intervention process with student and/or faculty/staff.

 

  • Provide a supportive environment for students and assist in making appropriate recommendations and referrals to local agencies.

 

  • Work with community partners and identify opportunities to collaborate.

 

  • Insure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.

 

  • Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function, think critically and speak in public.

 

  • Provide academic, vocational, and personal support to students.

 

  • Refer students to outside community agencies as appropriate for guidance and support; coordinate internal support services including, but not limited to, tutoring, interpreting, note taking, male mentoring, college connections, success closet, and other student support endeavors.

 

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
