Minimum Qualifications

·         High School Diploma

·         Customer Service experience, one year full-time or equivalent part-time

Preferred Qualifications

·         Associate’s degree 

·         Experience in a community college setting working with enrollment, advising, student support services, and/or student records, one year full-time or equivalent 

·         Bilingual in Spanish 

·         At least one year full-time or equivalent part-time documented experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook) and/or Information System (ie. Colleague, Banner, Jenzabar, PeopleSoft Campus Solution)

Job Description

The Success Navigator is a part-time, 12-month position serving all locations of SPCC. Each navigator will have a primary location, but travel will be required to all locations. Under the direction of the Success Navigator Coordinator, the Success Navigator is responsible for ensuring all students have a quality front door experience and are connected to institutional resources. The Success Navigator will work collaboratively with faculty and staff to provide a broad range of services throughout the enrollment process to students. Position will participate in on-going professional development trainings related to the College’s student information system(s) and portal; enrollment, financial aid, career assessments, advising, registration, and business office processes. Hours will be Monday-Thursday from 3:00 pm to 9:30 pm with occasional day or weekend hours as needed. 

Job Duties

·         Provide assistance to all current and potential students of the College, including, but not limited to career assessment, enrollment applications, financial aid completion, financial aid forms, residency determination service (RDS), placement information, registration, transfer information, and payment; referring to college resource, faculty, and/or staff as needed

·         Assist students in selecting educational programs compatible with their interests, needs, and abilities; administer introductory online career assessments as needed

·         Guide students seeking non-credit programs through the online registration process and collect documentation and register students for non-credit medical programs

·         Process transcripts, forms, and other documentation to allow students to register as quickly as possible

·         Serve as the primary contact for the college by answering phone calls, website inquiry forms, and inquiry emails

·         Collect prospective student contact information and ensure regular follow-up to promote enrollment and registration

·         Provide referrals for service based upon individualized student needs by connecting students with relevant College resources, faculty, and/or staff

·         Maintain current knowledge base of all student related resources, procedures, and policies

·         Teach students how to navigate the student portal (GO), electronic forms, and other SPCC IT resources

·         Collaborate with all areas of the College to support student success initiatives and to provide students with accurate and timely information to make informed and positive decisions

·         Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees

·         Adhere to all SPCC’s policies and procedures

·         Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public

·         Work effectively within an ethnic, cultural, and socially diverse student population

·         Maintain confidentiality of all records in accordance with FERPA

·         Work variable schedule if needed, including day/weekends and travel between campuses

·         Other duties as assigned
