The Purpose

The Supervisor of Facilities – HSC (Health Science Center) is responsible for organizing, coordinating and maintaining the facilities at the HSC. This position will perform basic preventive maintenance and general maintenance. This person needs to work with staff, faculty on all three floors.

What You'll be Doing

• Supervises Facilities personnel at the HSC Campus in the day-to-day job functions.
• Assists the Director of Facilities in completing the Physical Facilities Evaluation Summary and provides summary data on building for the Facilities Capital Assessment five-year plan.
• Assists the College Safety Officer carry out responsibilities of facilities safety investigations and reports.
• Performs general equipment maintenance and repair.
• Works with maintenance staff to ensure appropriate facilities management.
• Works with maintenance staff or outside contractors in performing maintenance and repairs on electrical, air conditioning, heating, carpentry, and plumbing.
• Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
• Performs minor repair of all buildings
• Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings, repair plaster and drywall, paints building structures, and interior walls.
• Works with outside contractors on walkways and parking lots and in charge of all aspects of snow and ice removal.
• Works with interior contractor on building interior by cleaning e.g. cleaning bathrooms, dusting, washing white boards, emptying trash containers, vacuuming, shampoo carpet and wax floors as needed
• Removes and replaces light bulbs, ceiling tiles, white boards.
• Assists faculty and staff in setting up classrooms and equipment for various functions.
• Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
• Attends leadership meetings at HSC

Additionally

• Is available for occasional weekend work, irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed. Must have coverage for time off for HSC building.
• Performs all services with attention to the safety and security of the college.
• Maintains the technical competencies necessary to the job function.
• Have understanding of colleges HVAC controls system (Metasys) Be able to troubleshoot HVAC problems and order parts from vendors.
• Serves as primary maintenance contact for building.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education HS diploma or equivalent Experience One year of experience in building maintenance. Skills and the Know-How Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid NC driver’s license. The ideal person will possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Proficiency in using College email, website, and other computer applications associated with the position.

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to, lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines. Must have a commitment to safety.
