Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Ability to be self-directed and to complete work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, working well with others.

Skills and Abilities

  • Skill in the use of computers and commitment to use of technology.
  • Windows Server Administration, including LDAP, IIS, and Tomcat/Apache for Windows.
  • RedHat Server Administration, including CLI (file management, permissions, etc), Cron Schedules, and service management.
  • Ability to use productivity software, including a general knowledge of word processors and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to send and receive email, and to complete and submit electronic forms.
  • Employees are expected to perform essential computer skills (log on/off a computer, manage and organize files, print/scan forms using a copier, maintain and recall secure passwords and change password(s) routinely per College procedures).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide leadership in anticipating and responding to change.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with people internal and external to the institution.
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple departments and activities of others.

Preferred Qualifications

Position Description

Systems Administrator

Under the direction of the Vice President of Technology, Campus Safety/Security, and CIO, the Systems Administrator manages and maintains the College’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (Ellucian Colleague), supporting technologies, and integrations with other systems.

Essential Duties Summary

  1. Install system and software releases; maintain present systems; and perform necessary steps to ensure system efficiency and utilization.
  2. Determine and resolve system-wide performance problems as it relates to the administrative computer system, e-procurement computer system and business continuity computer system.
  3. Provide advice and consultation to users concerning administrative computer system, e-procurement computer system and business continuity computer system.
  4. Analyze and maintain security procedures relating to Colleague hardware, software, and application files.
  5. Prepare system documentation; test, debug, and maintain envision basic programs.
  6. Analyze and maintain the administrative computer system, e-procurement computer system and business continuity computer system for errors and arrange for software updates and hardware repairs.
  7. Serve as liaison with NCCCS system office personnel on all issues and projects related to the College’s ERP.
  8. Monitor administrative computer system, e-procurement computer system and business continuity computer system logs and security access.
  9. Perform and maintain reliable backups, both on-site and off-site, for administrative computer system, e-procurement computer system and business continuity computer system.
  10. Work closely with colleagues to direct and enforce written policies, procedures and guidelines related to information systems and campus cybersecurity.
  11. Work with auditors in conducting of administrative computer system, e-procurement computer system and business continuity computer system audits.
  12. Perform an internal audit annually of the administrative system to verify compliance with the College’s guidelines and use procedures.
  13. Maintain Informer, Self Service, Destiny One, Ethos, and all other systems interacting with the Colleague environment.
  14. Administer the College’s ERP servers in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  15. Assist in the administration and management of other hardware, software, servers, and services as needed or assigned.
  16. Participate in professional and staff development opportunities.
  17. Serve on committees as requested and as designated in the Policies and Procedures Manual of the College.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned and other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
