Blue Ridge Community College is currently seeking applications for a full-time Systems and Network Administrator II. The Systems and Network Administrator II are responsible for ensuring the secure and reliable operation of the College’s local area network, wireless networks, Internet access, VoIP and analog telephony infrastructure, and the administration of critical on-premises servers and systems as well as systems hosted in 3rd party environments such as Amazon Web Services. 
 

Education
Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Industry recognized certification such as CompTIA A+ / Security+, Microsoft Certified Professional, AWS, or similar preferred

Experience
At least five years of direct experience in the Information Technology field required; at least two years in systems and network administration preferred

Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of network technologies including Internet Protocol and related technologies.

Strong understanding of principles and procedures related to the administration of complex information systems.

Understanding of core information systems security concepts including network segmentation, least privilege, encryption, and common IT technology management frameworks.

Physical Demand
The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting computers and peripheral equipment, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
