Minimum Qualifications

Masters Degree preferred or Bachelor's with experience in prior relevant positions. Experience with Excel spreadsheets, office administration, customer service, and; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Knowledge of computer software, programs, and databases, including, but not limited to, Excel, Adobe Pro, Word 2016, Outlook, and NC E-Procurement. Knowledge of computer data systems. Familiar with government reporting for grants.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; the ability to interpret graphs; the ability to create excel formulas for data reporting.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15-20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Dexterity: Requires the ability to perform simple movements requiring moderate coordination, such as those required to operate office equipment or computer equipment.

Position Description

Under limited supervision, the Technical Academy Career Coach will provide oversight to the growth, Advising, development, expansion, and implementation of the Career & Technical Education programs housed within Pitt Community College's Technical Academy. The person in this position will be responsible for high school outreach, student advising/coaching, administrative duties, and on/off campus recruitment activities. This position will also serve as a first line of contact between Pitt County Schools and Pitt Community College. Reports to the Dean of Construction and Industrial Technologies Division. This is a grant funded position. It is a time limited full time position.

Provide career development guidance for high school students and families with emphasis on technical programs within the Technical Academy
Plan and implement student recruitment activities for technical programs
Assist prospective students with career exploration activities and career assessments
Assist prospective students with admissions and financial aid and resignation procedures of college
Provide guidance to students regarding career choices
Conduct high school classroom presentation promoting the Technical Academy programs and activities
Provide prospective student with information regarding the current job market trends in career choices
Schedule and attend college campus tours and industry tours with high school students
Coordinate job shadowing opportunities for Technical Academy students
Maintain ongoing database of students and classrooms that services are offered
Comply with all policies of the LEA and the State Department of Education
