Minimum Qualifications
• Associate’s degree or higher. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
• Two years of experience in payroll, accounting or any equivalent combination of experience that includes Payroll/Accounting & prior community college experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with the payroll side of HRIS software such as Colleague.
• Familiarity with leave accrual, overtime/comp time, tax categories, insurance benefits, unemployment benefits, and garnishments.
• Familiarity with MSOffice suite.
Position Description
The Technician, Accounting – Payroll will be responsible for maintenance of all payroll records, preparation of payroll data for computer, reconciliation of all billings related to payroll, and input of payroll data by performing the following duties.
• Maintain all payroll records for College personnel.
• Prepare payroll data for computer processing.
• Compute payroll and reconcile all related reports and accounts.
• Prepare payroll checks for direct deposit and distribution to employees.
• Reconcile and mail special checks on payroll deductions taxes, insurance, etc.
• Reconcile and mail quarterly reports.
• Reconcile and mail all W2’s and related year-end reports.
• Maintain and update files for year-end audit.
• Other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Working knowledge of computer applications.
• Good communication skills.
• Essential office machine skills
