Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, electronic and formal.
  • One year data entry and retrieval experience within a business or educational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One year data entry and retrieval experience using Ellucian Colleague, Banner, or PeopleSoft.
  • Experience in admissions or records/registration office at a North Carolina Community College.

Position Description

The Admissions Technician provides data entry support related to the college application and admission process for traditional, captive, and dual-enrolled students. This position reports directly to the Director of Admissions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Accurately processes and enters electronic and physical based data related to the college application and supporting documents within the student information system.
  • Documents, processes, and monitors incoming and outgoing communication associated with the application and initial enrollment process for traditional and dual-enrolled applicants.
  • Serves as the admissions office representative for SCC’s Career & College Promise Portal.
  • Serve as the college’s Coordinator for the Residency Determination (RDS).

 Maintains a high level of detail and confidentiality.

DUTIES:

  • Process admissions documents for all general curriculum program students.
  • Assist the Director in maintaining up-to-date information within our CFNC website/application.
  • Coordinate the admission process for all high school students.
  • Assist in the auditing of applicant documentation before each registration to identify incomplete files; add restrictions to students’ Colleague records and notify students of their status.
  • Assist in the auditing of applicant files immediately following registration, transfer files of fully accepted and registered students to registrar; deactivate those applicants’ files that did not register.
  • Audit returning student files for incomplete admission requirements prior to re-activation.
  • Troubleshoot problems with all admissions Colleague issues including application processes and restrictions.
  • Collaborate with Eagle’s 1-Stop to ensure receipt of admission documents.
  • Determine the reports necessary for data correction and update in the Colleague system.
  • Generate written and electronic correspondence to applicants through the communications management function of Colleague to apprise the applicants of their admissions status.
  • Manage the downloading and printing of electronic applications for admission and ensure that all data entered into the student data system is accurate.
  • Process hard-copy student applications and other admissions-related documentation for the database system.
  • Assist with other areas within the department and division when needed during peak times.
  • Assist with other admissions duties requiring evening and weekend assignments.
  • Review and correct admissions data to ensure accuracy for state reporting.
  • Processes and troubleshoots student information in relation to the Residency Determination process.
  • Serves on institutional committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
