Position Description

Under the direction of the Dean of Enrollment, the Testing Coordinator will coordinate curriculum placement testing, GED testing program, Health Sciences admissions testing, and other testing services provided by the campus testing center, including testing accommodations, make-up testing, contracted testing, proctoring, etc. In addition, the Testing Coordinator will ensure all state requirements and test publisher procedure/policies are followed and all testing is conducted in a clean, comfortable, and honorable testing environment. This position requires day, evening, and occasional weekend hours and travel. 

  1. Oversees all day-to-day operations of the Testing Center. Works with supervisor to develop and update services, policies, procedures, and schedules in response to changing demands.
  2. Schedules and publicizes services, communicates program policies/procedures to campus and community and maintains integrity of testing environment.
  3.  Administers, proctors, scores, and transmits results of all tests administered by the Testing Center. Observes college, state/federal, and test agency policies and procedures for security/confidentiality of testing records; includes adherence to FERPA as it relates to the College and testing services.
  4.  Utilizes our document imaging system to capture student information for permanent record keeping.
  5. Serves as the designated GED Chief Examiner and follows federal and state regulations and policies and ensures compliance with regulations and test security.
  6. Serves as liaison with the Department of Education GED Office and trains alternate examiners.
  7. Ensures candidate eligibility and regularly updates and maintains student records and testing scores as required by the North Carolina Department of Education in a nationwide GED information tracking system.
  8. Ensures compliance and maintains documentation on Testing Center compliance with third-party testing center standards, and promptly responds to third-party support and quality channels on technical, quality, and other issues as they arise.
  9. Maintains security of tests and materials by routinely inventorying materials, reviewing procedures for security, ensuring secure storage, and returning all test booklets and related materials to appropriate testing companies.
  10. Maintains Testing Center statistics including number of people tested, number of tests given and type of tests. Prepares monthly and annual reports and makes recommendations to the supervisor concerning program implications. 
  11. Assists students to complete testing paperwork and assure accuracy and completeness. Refers students who need advising or other support services to the appropriate offices.
  12. Assists Vice President in reviewing contracts and agreements to provide GED testing in off-campus locations, when appropriate and feasible.
  13. Coordinates, schedules, and oversees all College and Non-College test proctoring for other departments, outside certification agencies or other colleges. 
  14. Engages in professional development activities and maintains knowledge and awareness of effective testing practices and certification statuses.
  15. Assists with graduation, recruitment, retention, and other College-related activities as needed. 
  16. Participates in professional and staff development opportunities. 
  17. Actively participates in Student Affairs planning, evaluation, and program review.
  18. Treats students and colleagues respectfully, speak to others courteously, and behave in such a way that creates a workplace environment that is marked by trustworthiness, honest but polite communication, and interpersonal interaction that are both personally cordial and professionally appropriate.
  19. Serves on committees as required.
  20. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
