Position Description
GENERAL FUNCTION:
The TLC Specialist is a member of The Learning Center (TLC) team. The position includes staffing TLC front desk, including appointment management, tutor referral tracking, accessing and addressing the needs of students in-person, over the phone, or through electronic communication. The TLC Specialist also proctors placement testing, nursing testing, make-up tests, and distance learning exams. Additionally, the TLC Specialist will tutor students in a variety of areas, including introductory computer use and Microsoft Office Suite, writing, and basic study skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Staff TLC front desk and manage all TLC traffic, phone calls, and emails.
- Manage the scheduling of tutoring appointments and a variety of testing appointments including placement testing, nursing entrance exams, make-up testing, and distance education proctored exams.
- Administer the requests for and collection of tutoring referrals, both paper and electronic.
- Maintain paper and electronic records of tutoring and testing each semester.
- Maintain the administrative side of Smarthinking Online tutoring, include usage monitoring, troubleshooting, and faculty and student training.
- Engage in all aspects of testing within TLC, including scheduling test dates and times, working with partnering institutions or agencies.
- Tutor students in introductory computer use and Microsoft Office Suite, writing, and basic study skills.
- Gather monthly and yearly reports of testing and TLC outreach and events.
