Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; masters degree preferred
  • Broad knowledge of basic theories and principles, concepts and methodology of a general professional field is preferred
  • Experience working with Transitional and Career Studies programs is preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency with computer and office equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions

  • Infrequently lifting and carrying items up to 15 lbs
  • Infrequently bending and twisting at the waist
  • Evening and weekend work hours may be required
  • Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, mouse and telephone
  • Infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, between campuses and to off-campus sites

Position Description

The Transitional and Career Studies Coordinator/Instructor will provide classroom instruction that utilizes the High School Equivalency online program (Odysseyware) and RISE (Reinforced Instruction for Student Excellence) mandated courses in English and math. The instructor will focus on supplemental instruction and resources to support student online learning as well as student retention and persistence in these programs. The instructor will maintain timely and complete documentation associated with student and college records, and ensure the security and confidentiality of student information and student records.

The duties of the Transitional and Career Studies Coordinator/Instructor include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate Transitional and Career Studies course development and perform course origination document entries
  • Coordinate with the College's Compliance and Internal Audit Office to identify research and correct LEIS and ICR audit exceptions to comply with state and federal regulations
  • Coordinate, develop and implement system training and training materials for Transitional and Career Studies programs, faculty, and lab facilitators
  • Coordinate planning and development of the Transitional and Career Studies grading process
  • Resolve course-related issues for Transition Math and Transition English courses (RISE-Reinforced Instruction for Student Excellence)
  • Supervise and evaluate the operation of courses and faculty each semester  in accordance with policy
  • Enroll, recruit, advise, and supervise the online High School Equivalency Program (Odysseyware)
  • Provide support and troubleshoot issues students encounter with Odysseyware
  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and other paperwork in a timely manner meeting all deadlines with accuracy and detail
  • Fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations, as well as meet the needs of the department, division, and College
  • Provide method and technique of course development and scheduling, and grading process
  • Knowledge of policies and practices of state and federal regulations for course and program audits
  • Provide instructional oversight to the Academic Transition Center (RISE)
