The Transitional and Career Studies Instructor – Greene County Correctional Programs teaches classes for students who are pursuing their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma and/or who wish to improve basic academic skills. This position reports to the Director of Transitional and Career Studies.

The duties of the Transitional and Career Studies Instructor – Greene County Correctional Programs include, but are not limited to:

• To instruct the five basic courses required for HSE (i.e. reading, writing, math, science, social studies)
• Organize daily lesson plans 
• Administer tests and record scores and LEIS information and data 
• Report and evaluate students' progress through the use of instructional resources
• Supervise and communicate with students to ensure their participation and progress 
• Work with program staff to complete and/or correct any student data information 
• Attend professional development as required by the Transitional and Career Studies Program
• Direct students to additional resources outside of the classroom to ensure success and retention
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

• Frequent standing for several hours throughout the day
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, and kneeling
• Infrequent lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs. without assistance
• Infrequent sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone and computer
