Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; master’s degree preferred
- 1+ years of experience teaching and/or developing educational programs for adult learners
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to maintain a high sense of confidentiality
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
- Experience working with College and Career Readiness/Basic Skills programs preferred

Position Description
The Transitional and Career Studies Instructor – Greene County Correctional Programs teaches classes for students who are pursuing their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma and/or who wish to improve basic academic skills. This position reports to the Director of Transitional and Career Studies.
The duties of the Transitional and Career Studies Instructor – Greene County Correctional Programs include, but are not limited to:
- To instruct the five basic courses required for HSE (i.e. reading, writing, math, science, social studies)
- Organize daily lesson plans
- Administer tests and record scores and LEIS information and data
- Report and evaluate students' progress through the use of instructional resources
- Supervise and communicate with students to ensure their participation and progress
- Work with program staff to complete and/or correct any student data information
- Attend professional development as required by the Transitional and Career Studies Program
- Direct students to additional resources outside of the classroom to ensure success and retention
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

- Frequent standing for several hours throughout the day
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, and kneeling
- Infrequent lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs. without assistance
- Infrequent sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone and computer
