Minimum Qualifications
• Valid NC Driver's License and acceptable driving record
• Ability to deal with mental and physical handicaps
• Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of transportation for adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities
• Candidates must be 18 years old
• General Statute 122C-80 Criminal History Record consent is required as well as fingerprint check if the applicant has been a resident of NC for less than 5 years
Preferred Qualifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, pull or other wise move objects, including the human body
• Must be physically able to push or pull a wheelchair to move individuals if necessary
Position Description
GENERAL FUNCTION: The primary purpose of the Transportation Driver is to provide safe transportation for students to and from Brunswick lnteragency Program and other designated routes. The Driver is responsible for safely making sure the student enters and exits the vans. The Driver is responsible for making sure the student is safely returned to their residence or to the designated location.
6 hour days (Split day/ Pickup 6am-9am & Drop-off 2pm-5pm)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Transportation Driver
• Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety
• Safely secure wheelchair patients for transport • Accurately keep mileage log and gas receipts
• Maintain and upkeep of interior of vehicle
• Daily pre-check of vehicle
• Assist supervisor with route planning
• Communicate and coordinate with student's caregiver for pick-up and drop-off times
• Provides 24 notice if unable to work assigned schedule
