The Division of Continuing Education seeks an instructor to assist in teaching an 8-week Utility Arborist course to college students. The candidate will be responsible for developing and updating curriculum; preparing educational material and equipment; and providing classroom laboratory instruction through lecture, demonstration and laboratory exercises. The instructor will prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities, develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance instruction, prepare tests to evaluate student performance, grade and record individual scores, maintain adequate records of student attendance and performance, and maintain and submit all documentation in a neat, accurate, and timely fashion. Specific job duties and responsibilities include a knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials used in tree maintenance and care; the ability to safety and effectively fell trees, remove branches, and lower limbs; an understanding of industry safety procedures for climbing trees and working around overhead wires; an understanding of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions; an ability to plan, organize, and implement tree planting, pruning and removal operations; an ability to follow and direct others to follow safe work practices; an ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing; and an ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others contracted in the course of work. An ISA Certified Arborist preferred. Experience in utility line clearance preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of tree climbing experience required.
Salary: Based on education and experience.
