Minimum Qualifications

Required qualifications:
(1) minimum of Associate’s degree in office administration, business, or related field; (2) Experience in managing purchasing processes and maintaining documentation of expenses; (3) Experience maintaining student records and other program documentation in a thorough and effective manner; (4) Experience assisting in preparing reports; (5) Experience in office management and event planning; (6) Effective interpersonal and oral/written communication skills; (7) Computer skills including database management, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:
Familiarity with federal grant programs, such as TRIO, and applicable regulations; Individual who has succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project's target population; Bilingual in Spanish.

Position Description

Part Time up to 25 hours per week.
12-month position

The Administrative Support Assistant provides service delivery of the College’s federally-funded TRiO Student Support Services grant.  The multi-year project, new in 2020 at Alamance Community College, contributes directly to the College’s vision:  From access to success:  Transforming lives and the communities we serve.  The focus is retention, graduation, and transfer of students who are low-income, first generation college attenders, and/or have disabilities.  The Administrative Assistant works under the supervision of the TRiO SSS director to support recruitment, selection, coaching/advising, and enrichment opportunities for participants that address the enrollment, retention, graduation, and transfer objectives of the project.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing clerical, administrative, and project support to the SSS project. He/she will provide excellent “customer service” to students, faculty and staff; schedule appointments and make follow-up calls; make arrangements for TRiO participant activities/events; maintain records; assist with reporting; perform budget-related tasks; and assist as needed with other tasks related to the grant.
