Position Description
Responsible for the development and delivery of commercial drivers licensing training to prepare students to obtain and master the skills and aptitudes necessary to begin working as professional truck drivers, ensuring that training adheres to all campus, local, state, and federal requirements applicable to operating commercial vehicles. Assist in preparing and delivering instructional coursework; facilitating activities; and administering both classroom and practical application training. Assist in managing the classroom environment; equipment readiness; and coordinating information and scheduling with program manager, lead instructor, instructional staff, and students, as required. Must possess a current, valid NC Commercial Drivers License; current medical card, with at least three (3) or more years of operational experience in the commercial transportation industry as an Over the Road licensed commercial driver. Must be knowledgeable about Federal and State Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines, NCDOT commercial driver (CDL) qualifications and licensing requirements. Associates Degree and experience as an Over the Road trainer, mentor, or coach and prior experience in a formal education or training position for a transportation company preferred, but not required.
