REQUIREMENTS:
 
Education/Skills 
 
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or closely related educational field. Some knowledge of basic math, reading, language skills, and computer-assisted instruction.
 
Preferred: Master’s Degree. Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)
 
Experience
 
Required:  Some experience working with adults in an educational setting.
 
Preferred: Some experience working with adults in a community college setting. Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population, including low-income, first-generation, and academically advantaged populations. Some experience in teaching math, writing, and study skills to remedial/developmental students in a community college setting.

HIRING SALARY RANGE

MINIMUM SALARY: $30,444.00

MIDPOINT SALARY: $38,055.00

 

The Student Support Services Program provides eligible college students with free access to academic advisement, personal support, tutorial assistance, and financial aid assistance to support the retention and completion of program participants. The Tutor Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Support Services and Upward Bound.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Determines student eligibility for Student Support Services as defined by the US Department of Education.
•    Coordinate and monitor virtual and in-person academic tutoring programs.
•    Collaborate with the Project Director, in consultation with faculty, in developing policies and procedures for math, reading, and other developmental skills.
•    Work with members of the program to establish a confidential counseling/advising records system and contribute to the program's record-keeping system.
•    Complete comprehensive needs assessments and/or diagnostic assessments on each participant to assess their skill level.
•    Develop individual education plans to include academic advisement, virtual or face-to-face tutoring, and mentoring that will promote the educational persistence of students.
•    Conduct a diagnostic assessment of program participants to assess their level of academic skills.
•    Establishes and maintains a resource library for tutors and program participants.
•    Facilitate workshops and seminars relative to all tutoring subjects offered.
•    Establish and maintain evaluation procedures to assess the academic progress of program participants and the effectiveness of tutors.  
•    Assist in registration, educational planning and advising, tutoring, testing, and placement of program students.
•    Performs other duties as required by the Director of Student Support Services and Upward Bound.
•    Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to the position.
•    Maintain security of personal computer access.
•    Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
•    Serve on college committees as directed by the supervisor.
