Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited university. At least 2 years of experience tutoring students at a post secondary level. Proven effective customer service skills; proficiency with computer software.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree with three or more years’ experience in tutoring at the post secondary level and providing support in student success programs at the community college level; teaching experience in a college setting; Datatel/Colleague experience.
Position Description
Responsible for providing tutoring to ECC students, oversight of all tutoring services for ECC students and supporting Student Services activities in the ECC Academic Success Center on the Rocky Mount campus. Provides training and monitors part-time tutoring staff in the Academic Success Centers on both campuses. This position requires facilitating ongoing professional development as it relates to tutoring ECC students. This employee will work closely with the Student Services team and the campus community to provide students with both general and program specific information regarding all programs of study at ECC.
May instruct students in ACA 111. Required to work some evening hours and both campuses. Performs other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Tutoring Coordinator Duties:
Responsible for day to day operations of tutoring support platform ThinkingStorm
Establishes and maintains tutoring attendance records
Development and oversight of part-time tutors schedules and timesheets
Responsible for scheduling proctored tests for non-ECC students
Consults with the Dean of Students on an ongoing basis to ensure effective tutoring services in the Academic Success Center
Conducts tutoring training workshops for faculty, staff, and students
Works with the Dean of Students to ensure information regarding tutoring is accurate in all print and electronic publications
Attends various tutoring related workshops for ongoing professional development
Serves on various institutional committees when needed
Student Success Advisor Duties:
Responds to routine inquiries or visits about curriculum programs and courses
Makes student referrals to the Student Support Counselor and Library (LRC) as needed for those inquiries of a more personal or specific nature
Answers telephone inquiries and emails concerning school dates, events, course offerings in the Academic Success Center
Operates a variety of office equipment such as a computer, printer, fax machine, copier, telephone, etc.
Uses computer software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Access, Datatel, etc.
