Accounting, or a related field, OR a relevant Bachelor's degree with significant
experience to include supervisory experience.

three years in mid-level or higher positions. At least three years of supervisory
experience.

Position Description

SUMMARY:

Exercise administrative direction over the College's financial and administrative operations and processes to include the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of Business and fiscal programs, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the College's Chief Financial Officer providing leadership in planning, organizing, and directing all financial operations and administrative support services for the College.
  • Plan, organize and supervise all College accounting operations, including disbursements, accounting of funds, and preparation and maintenance of payroll and time records.
  • Direct the management of all the College's financial operations; prepare records, financial analysis, and provide appropriate controls and audits.
  • Coordinate the development of the institution's annual operating budget and submit to the President for review and subsequent approval by the Board; monitor and verify major expenditures and investigate significant variances to the budget.
  • Direct the management of the College's business office to include finance, bookstore, purchasing function, a system of inventory, and control for supplies and equipment and foodservice operations.
  • Coordinate the institution reporting process with the North Carolina Community College System.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Business Office staff.
  • Coordinate with the Foundation Director and Financial Aid Officer in the administration of student financial aid and scholarships.
  • Review and approve all contractual relationships.
  • Direct the administration of funds for federally sponsored programs and all other college accounts.
  • Direct and monitor the College's investments. Review annual audits with State auditors and discuss suggestions and recommendations for procedural improvement.
  • Provide supervision to support personnel and monitor activities' scope to ensure compliance with policies, institution objectives, and external contractual obligations.
  • Monitor risk management and provide an adequate insurance program for the physical plant and College-owned vehicles and administer such plans as authorized for trustees, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in various institution committees and serve on several external associations and committees deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Serve on the Board of the College's Foundation, acting as its Treasurer.
  • Assist with equipment and software maintenance.
  • Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to the position.
  • Maintain security of personal computer access.
  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
