Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the equivalent of education and experience that demonstrates the position requirements
• Minimum of three years of senior administrative experience that includes organizational level decision-making and interaction with an executive team
• Ability to communicate effectively (oral and in writing) to diverse external and internal stakeholders
• Proven ability to interact positively, effectively, cooperatively, and tactfully with diverse groups, which may include faculty, staff, administrators, the media, business and industry leaders, government officials, and community representatives
• Demonstrated ability to develop external relationships that benefit the institution
• Experience in identifying needs and problems, creating innovative solutions, and managing multiple projects
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, media development, and presentation software applications
• Demonstrated experience in managing departmental or divisional human, physical, and financial resources

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience with a community college foundation or a community college marketing team

Position Description

Job Description

Under the direction of the President, the Vice President of Institutional Advancement provides leadership and management of operations and personnel in the institutional advancement division to achieve a high standard of excellence and innovation in marketing, resource development, and institutional effectiveness. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Vice President of Institutional Advancement is responsible for pursuing success in three key areas: securing revenue from individual, institutional, and community donors with dedicated stewardship that will increase contributions over time; integrating campus-wide assessment, institutional research, and institutional effectiveness data and activities to enhance the quality and organizational health of the college; and positively promoting the college through marketing and effective communications to support and advance programs, initiatives, and the mission of South Piedmont Community College to all stakeholders.

Job Duties

• Strong and visionary leader that will direct institutional advancement with integrity, accountability, and service
o Prepare, administer, and monitor the operational and budget goals for all areas under purview
o Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal codes, statutes and regulations that govern North Carolina community college resource development, institutional effectiveness, and college-level policy and process
o Establish operational processes and make necessary modifications based on analysis of operations, demographics, and other pertinent data
o Direct the development and administration of a cost-effective budget for assigned functions; direct the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; and make midyear corrections
o Maintain confidentiality of sensitive records and information
o Ensure quality in recruiting, selecting, training, and evaluating staff
o Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, the media, business and industry leaders, government officials, elected officials, and community representatives

• Provide leadership, management, and supervision for all college resource development
o Oversee the operations of the South Piedmont Community College Foundation, Inc.
 Oversee the maintenance of accurate and appropriate records
 Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures related to the effective operation of the South Piedmont Community College Foundation, Inc.
 Solicit and acknowledge gifts
 Oversee planning and promotion of donor recognition, fund-raising, and college advancement activities
o Acquire external resources for the college
 Assist college stakeholders to identify needs that support the college mission and create plans of action to secure grants and other external funding to support those needs
 Plan, develop, and oversee internal and external campaigns and fund drives to support the advancement of the college
o Cultivate internal and external relationships to establish partnerships and garner resources to better serve students and the community
o As the president’s designee, facilitate the college’s Donations of Items while adhering to college, system, and statewide policy
o Engage the president and other college stakeholders in ways that promote the college and support college initiatives

• Provide leadership, management, and supervision for all college marketing and communications
o Oversee the development and implementation of an effective marketing plan to enhance the community image, branding, and programs/initiatives of South Piedmont Community College
o Develop effective, efficient, and innovative communication strategies to enhance the internal and external communication of the college
o Serve as the Public Information Officer of the college
o Ensure positive, supportive, and productive public relations with college stakeholders, including the media, the business and industry community, the college staff, educational and community partners, governmental leaders, and the general public

• Provide leadership, management, and supervision for all institutional effectiveness processes and policies
o Oversee college-wide and division-specific goal development, progress, achievement, and reporting
o Oversee SACSCOC accreditation compliance and reporting requirements
o Oversee institutional research activities and ensure integration of data into marketing and development strategies

• Present a favorable image of the college at all times and positively promote the college’s goals, objectives, and strategies internally and externally

• Maintain professionalism in appearance and communications

• Have a willingness to be involved in community activities and groups

• At the President’s direction, serve as liaison to government agencies, commissions, associations, and stakeholders in public higher education

• Make presentations at meetings, workshops, and events as assigned

• Advise the President on matters of resource development, marketing, institutional effectiveness and other college-wide issues

• Perform other duties as assigned by the President
