Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in accounting, business administration, higher education leadership or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated management experience including budgeting, financial reporting and personnel management
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
  • Technology skills necessary to utilize necessary business applications.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience in business operations management, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in overseeing physical plant operations, business office functions, and human resources.

Position Description

In support of the mission of Isothermal Community College, the Vice President of Operations is a senior executive responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the college’s business affairs. This role serves as the Chief Financial Officer and plays a critical part in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the college's administrative functions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for all administrative and auxiliary services, including Plant Operations and Maintenance; WNCW Public Radio; Business Office; Bookstore; Human Resources; Performing Arts & Conference Center; and Campus Enforcement and Safety.
  • Collaborate with the college president to prepare and recommend annual budget, including management of all fund allocations and capital requests.
  • Oversee the planning, construction, renovation, and maintenance of college facilities and infrastructure, including periodic updates of facilities master plan for the college.
  • Develop and implement strategies for optimizing the use of physical resources.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure a campus environment that is safe and conducive to learning and student success.
  • Implement and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and finance staff to develop and monitor budgets in a manner that supports strategic priorities and advancement of the college.
  • Provide strategic direction for the human resources department, including college-wide recruitment, retention, and professional development efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and college policies.
  • Oversee employee relations, performance management, and the resolution of HR-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the college president and other senior leaders to develop, implement, and assess strategic plans for business operations.
  • Align operational goals with the overall mission and objectives of the institution.
  • Develop and implement procedures related to physical plant management, business office functions, and human resources.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with business operations and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Oversee relationships with external vendors and contractors and negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms for the college.
  • Develop and implement plans for emergency response and business continuity.
  • Assist in formulating procedures for efficient, effective operation of the college.
  • Serve as the point of contact in consultation with legal counsel to represent the interests of the college.
  • Advise the President concerning endowment investment portfolio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
