Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution for higher education
- Experience with academic advising
- Demonstrated experience and excellence with customer service
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a community college setting
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Advising or related field
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience working with historically underserved and underrepresented populations
- Experience with marketing and developing educational promotional materials
- Experience conducting program assessment

The Virtual Advising Specialist- Career & College Promise provides support for the Career and College Program (CCP) in Chatham County by providing timely and effective virtual advising to specific student populations, outreach, assisting with data collection, assessment, and research, and developing program resources. The position will largely support students who are enrolled in Seaforth High School, private schools in the College’s service area, and other populations identified by the Director of Secondary Partnerships.
This position is contingent upon funding and is currently time-limited through April 2022. Continuation of position is subject to funding.

Essential Duties
- Serves as college representative/liaison between Seaforth High School and Central Carolina Community College
- Responsible for virtual advising (and face to face, as permitted) of specific student populations as identified by the Director of Secondary Partnerships
- Conducts virtual advising related assessments, including career and program exploration
- Develops virtual marketing for special populations, including bilingual information, regarding CCP
- Assists in the outreach to specific student populations and organizations, including local clubs, community groups, and organizations to provide timely information regarding educational opportunities at CCCC
- Develops CCP resources and information for stakeholder use, including a CCP Fact Book
- Assists in the assessment of components of Secondary Partnerships programs
- Coordinates a review of CCP web resources and assists in development of new web content
- Assists in the development and delivery of professional development for CCP advisors and CCCC faculty and staff related to advising and CCP programming
- Assists in the development of a CCP Advising Manual for CCP advisors
- Assists with special events related to CCP promotion
