Minimum Qualifications

Requirements: 
Bachelor's degree

Three years of experience in case management, human resource development, job placement, career coaching, student advising, student mentoring, or human services
 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences:
Five years of case management experience Institutional Competencies

Position Description

This position provides career coaching, case management, and coordination of services to participants in the Career Pathways Program.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.  

*Provides case management and coordination, career coaching and support services to students from a variety of backgrounds, on an ongoing basis

*Coaches all participants on job acquisition and retention and assists participants in identifying and overcoming barriers to success

*Works with WakeWorks students to create effective resumes and assists them with interviewing skills

*Develops and maintains relationships with local service providers, workforce development agencies and other agencies in order to effectively refer students to services

*Provides continued career coaching for participants *Creates and maintains student files and information pertaining to student progress and tracks data for reports and proposals

Collaborates with and maintains ongoing communication with program faculty and staff to ensure appropriate course selection, registration, and exam scheduling to ensure all program participants receive high quality educational services

Develops and maintains a network of employer contacts to facilitate career referrals

Assists in facilitating specific events related to participant career development such as career panels, educational planning workshops, guest speakers, and visits with local employers

Conducts outreach to local service providers to maintain a network of support service referrals

Conducts outreach to local employers, local & state organizations Works with NCWorks Career Center and other workforce development agencies to refer for career placement

Completes annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

Strong time management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight time lines

Intermediate skills in MS Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organization skills and ability to maintain records

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

Ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with external employers Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with prospective employers Knowledge of local network of social service providers and referral sources
