Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, information technology, or related field.

 Minimum Experience

  • Proven experience in web development, including proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).

Position Description

DESCRIPTION

Cape Fear Community College is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Web Content Specialist. The candidate will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and play a key role in maintaining, updating, and enhancing our college's web and portal presence to ensure an engaging and user-friendly experience for students, faculty, staff, and the community. 

As a member of the Community Relations marketing team, this position requires a combination of technical expertise, creativity, and excellent communication skills.
 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives supervision from the Director of Marketing and Community Relations.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop, update, and maintain the college website to ensure accuracy, relevance, and accessibility.
  • Manage updates and website requests to the cfcc.edu website and my.cfcc.edu portal. 
  • Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to gather content and requirements for website updates and new initiatives.
  • Ensure website content is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Implement best practices in web design, user experience (UX), and search engine optimization (SEO) to enhance the effectiveness of the college website.
  • Create and optimize multimedia content, including images, videos, and interactive elements, for online platforms.
  • Monitor website performance and analytics to identify areas for improvement and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in web development and digital marketing to recommend innovative solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with web accessibility standards and regulations, such as WCAG and Section 508.
  • Prepare necessary performance and traffic reports for the cfcc.edu website.

Other Important Functions

  • Pays close attention to detail and submits error-free work.
  • Maintains an organized office environment and saves files in an organized, accessible manner.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Knowledge of

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; and Associated Press (AP) writing style.
  • HTML/CSS
  • Content Management Systems (preferably WordPress)
  • Google Analytics
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
  • Online design tools (PiktoChart, Canva, etc.)
  • ADA compliance requirements

  • Write marketing copy.
