Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s degree in English or a related writing discipline is required. The ability to become proficient in Wayne Community College’s website content management system is required. Must be able to quickly adapt to changing technology, have an artistic eye and a feel for trends in web design and digital content. The ability to recognize and resolve system-related problems; communicate technical and complex information both in oral and written form; effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments; coordinate multiple projects concurrently and work with minimum guidance and direction are required. The candidate must be highly knowledgeable in content management and have solid coding and styling skills to be able to build functional and easy to use websites. T
Preferred Qualifications
An Associate’s degree in Web Development, Web Design, Computer Science, or related discipline with excellent writing skills is preferred. Three to five years of experience in a related discipline in lieu of an Associate’s degree may be considered. One to three years of direct work experience in web design is preferred. Experience working with HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Illustrator) and WordPress, or similar content management systems, or the ability to quickly become proficient is preferred. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred.
Position Description
The Web Content Specialist will assist the webmaster in the design and development of the College websites. Duties include assisting with the creation, management, and configuration of sites and operate as the assistant webmaster; serve as a generator of content as well as design pages; will be responsible for monitoring College websites to ensure ADA compliance; will create, develop, prepare, manage, edit, and proof digital content, maintaining consistent messaging throughout all web properties; and debug pages and fix broken links or images. The Specialist will remain up-to-date on relevant SEO tactics and implement a winning strategy to keep the College web presences relevant; will address user complaints, serving as contact regarding web presence maintenance and enhancements; assist the webmaster in tracking data and analyzing reports on all site metrics and analytics. The candidate will on the team to expand the College’s digital presence through design and implementation of new web-based applications and will perform all other duties assigned to them by the Director of Office of Communications.
