Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication, organization, time management, and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience/proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience/proficiency in common web content management platforms (WordPress, Modern Campus, etc.), HTML and CSS
- Exceptional interpersonal, written communication, and project management skills
- Ability to rapidly troubleshoot common website issues
- Ability, aptitude and willingness to learn and expand knowledge on web development tools, resources, and related software
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Willingness to provide quality customer service
- Exhibit awareness of cultural diversity/gender fair criteria in the selection and recommendation of materials
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate degree AND at least 3 years work experience managing websites required
- Demonstrated experience in writing and editing, particularly focused on reworking existing content and adapting it for digital channels
- Demonstrated experience in project management
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education setting preferred.
Position Description
Job Summary
The Web Content Strategist is responsible for managing and maintaining the Sandhills Community College website, including developing and editing web content, editing website navigation, adhering to the colleges brand standards, and training end users on the development of web content. The Web Content Strategist will also be responsible for designing web content that will engage all sectors of the college community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create engaging content and edit existing content for the College website, ensuring all content meets Associated Press Style and the Sandhills Community College Style Guide standards
- Edit website navigation structure to optimize user experience
- Assist departmental users in developing and displaying content by facilitating group and one-on-one training
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the web presence in meeting the goals of the college
- Engage College stakeholders, providing timely communication, training, and training materials
- Maintain usability and functionality of website, including ensuring the site meets or exceeds ADA and WCAG standards
- Make timely edits to the College website including changes to copy, photography, and multimedia, ensuring all content is up to date
- Advise on best practices, tools and developing trends related to web content strategy, search engine optimization, and other areas of online content
- Regularly audit content and identify gaps or areas of opportunity for key sections of the website, and then develop and execute action plans to address
- Understand and maintain knowledge of basic design fundamentals
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Services
