Position Description
The Web Manager leads the strategic development and design of an accessible, innovative, mobile responsive, and user-friendly website for Wake Tech Community College, supporting the college’s brand strategy, business, and communications and marketing goals.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

* Develops, maintains and continuously enhances the Wake Tech public website in collaboration with Communications and Marketing, ITS and contracted vendors with a focus on end-user experience
* Manages extensive Content Management System (CMS), with daily improvements and updates to ensure that content is timely and relevant
* Provides training and support for departmental web content editors across the college
* Develops and applies sound information architecture techniques to support the best possible user experience and incorporates best practices for search engine optimization (SEO)
* Designs dynamic and engaging web pages with user-focused text and layout, and multimedia elements that support enrollment goals
* Conducts content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information
* Edits text for consistency, brand standards and optimal readability
* Leads strategy for mobile responsiveness for all web content
* Tracks and proactively manages the performance of the public website using Google Analytics and other tools and creates strategies to grow web traffic metrics
Manages accessibility for the college website, including accessibility audits of web content, procurement of accessibility tools, and delivering training to college employees on accessibility guidelines
Develops sitewide policies, procedures, and style guides to govern appropriate use of web-based platforms
Responsible for relaying emergency notifications on the website as needed, including during non-work hours
Completes and annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated strong analytical and project management skills
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of digital media as a communication, collaboration, and promotional vehicle
Extensive knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and responsive front-end frameworks like Bootstrap and Foundation.
Experience working with a CMS, preferably Drupal, and experience working on large complex websites
Keen understanding of programming including PHP and JavaScript
Experience using analytical tools, performing content audits, structuring and developing content to maximize website performance
Familiarity with usability assessment tools and procedures and user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles
Proficient in current web accessibility requirements, standards and procedures
Ability to assess organizational needs, recommend and execute appropriate web solutions
Ability to work harmoniously with staff, faculty, and the general public and communicate technical concepts and ideas in individual and group settings
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Thorough understanding of branding principles and tactics through multimedia
Strong analytical and project management skills
