Minimum Qualifications

strong communication, organization and analytic skills with a strong focus on attention to detail experience/proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and Adobe Creative Suite experience/proficiency in common web content management platforms (Drupal, WordPress, etc.), HTML and CSS proven ability to lead content development projects with key stakeholders exceptional interpersonal, written communication and project management skills ability to rapidly troubleshoot common website issues ability, aptitude and willingness to lean and expand knowledge on web development tools, resources, and related software ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions ability to work both in a team-oriented environment and independently ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines (organization and time management) ability and willingness to provide quality customer service ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality exhibit awareness of cultural diversity/gender fair criteria in the selection and recommendation of materials Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in communications studies, public relations, marketing, digital media, journalism or a related field strongly preferred. 3 years’ experience in same or similar position demonstrated experience in writing and editing, particularly focused on reworking existing content and adapting it for digital channels familiarity or demonstrated experience with the RFP process within NC community colleges demonstrated experience in traditional creative project management (print, video, events, advertising, etc.) is a plus demonstrated experience with managing a medium-large website experience in a higher education setting preferred

Position Description

Job Summary: The Web Strategist is responsible for managing and maintaining the public Mitchell website, including creating and editing web content, ensuring brand and usability compliance and training College stakeholders to assist with production and maintenance of web content. The Web Strategist will have an integral role in the RFP (request for proposal) planning, creation, launch and management of a new Mitchell website. Duties & Responsibilities: act as the point person for the planning launch and creation of the new Mitchell website engage College stakeholders, providing timely communication, training, training materials and responding to feedback for website matters create new engaging content and edit existing content for College website, ensuring all content meets Associated Press Style and the Mitchell Community College Style Guide standards maintain usability and functionality of website, including ensuring the site meets or exceeds WCAG 2.0 standards make timely edits to the College website including changes to copy, photography and multimedia, ensuring all content it up to date advise on best practices, tools and developing trends related to web content strategy, search engine optimization (SEO), and other areas of online content regularly audit content and identify gaps or areas of opportunity for key sections of the website, and then develop and execute action plans to address identify opportunities for strategic cross-channel content publishing maintain discretion for time-sensitive, proprietary or confidential information Related Responsibilities: understand and maintain knowledge of basic design fundamentals and digital content management systems perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications
