- Credentials to meet accreditation criteria for teaching assignments.
- High School diploma or GED, demonstrated competencies and knowledge of SMAW stick, GMAW mig, GTAW tig, FCAW flux core, oxyfuel cutting, welding and brazing, GTAW pipe welding, plasma cutting, welding symbols, and shop drawings.
- Two years’ professional experience in a variety of welding processes: MIG, TIG, Aluminum, etc.
- AWS Certifications
- Teaching experience
- Welding degree (certificate, diploma, or associate degree) from an accredited college or university.

12 Month Contract
The role of the Full-Time Instructor, Welding is to provide knowledge in his/her field of expertise to teach coursework related to this program of study at various campuses. Various teaching strategies, learning styles, and delivery methods will be utilized to reach this goal, which may include nights and weekends.
The Full-Time Instructor, Welding receives supervision from the Instructor/Program Coordinator, Welding Technology.
Position Subject to Availability of Budgeted Funds
Examples of Duties:
- Prepares, teaches, and evaluates assigned instructional courses (classroom and lab) based on assigned teaching load at the Elizabeth City and Dare Campuses.
- Uses various teaching strategies, learning styles, and delivery methods.
- Remains current with industry technology, standards, and software.
- Maintains accurate records of students' attendance and performance.
- Maintains weekly office hours.
- Serves as a student academic advisor for the program.
- Communicates regularly (formally and informally) with Program Coordinator.
- Ensures program nominations for student awards are submitted to the Program Coordinator.
- Maintains curriculum standards for all courses related to the program.
- Participates and makes recommendations in the development of new course and program applications in conjunction with the Program Coordinator.
- Reviews and revises, if necessary, program course syllabi annually.
- Reviews course evaluations performed by students within the program and reports them to the Program Coordinator.
- Assesses, prioritizes and helps make recommendations for equipment for the program and monitors the security of the program's equipment.
- Works with the Program Coordinator to develop an annual program budget as related to the program's needs in the areas of personnel, supplies, travel and equipment requests. Oversees requests for, as well as receipt of, purchased items within the program.
- Assists in the development, implementation and reporting on program goals: SLOs, UAP, etc.
- Provides information, data and documentation for annual program reviews.
- Participates in the marketing of the programs and the recruitment of students for the program.
- Interacts with businesses, high schools and other local partners to promote the program and assess their need for related programming.
- Serves on college-wide and ad hoc committees as assigned/elected.
- Attends College and/or administrative meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Submits requests for academic labs orders, maintains, and requests repairs/replacement for lab equipment/supplies.
