Position Description

In support of the overall Learning College, the Work-Based Learning Coordinator will facilitate the development, implementation, processing, verification, and record keeping for all work-based learning, apprenticeships, internships, job-shadowing, and experiential learning opportunities for Isothermal Community College students.  The coordination will ensure compliance with the guidelines for Work-Based Learning established in the State Board of Community College Code (Section 20). The WORC WBL Coordinator will serve as a liaison between project partners, specifically with the WORC Case Manager at the NC Works Center, to ensure students receive adequate support services.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Work with employers to grow and enhance WBL opportunities.
  2. Coordinate with all stakeholders (faculty, staff, students, employers, and others) to plan and coordinate Work-Based Learning (WBL) activity and to develop and track progress toward Measurable Learning Objectives (MLOs) or Job Descriptions.
  3. Facilitate ongoing consultation between all stakeholders throughout the WBL activity including mandatory site visits.
  4. Maintain student files in compliance with WBL (Section 20) Curriculum Procedures Reference manual.
  5. Ensure student eligibility for WBL as established by the state, college, and employers.
  6. Ensure that appropriate employer evaluations and time/wage reports are submitted as required by state code.
  7. Facilitate reporting of WBL hours for budget FTE.
  8. Provide orientation for WBL students.
  9. Maintain contact with all WBL participating companies to ensure the program standards are met and any new WBL opportunities are provided to students.
  10. Assist Curriculum, Continuing Education, and Customized Training with activities and events related to careers and employment.
  11. Serve on committees as required and work collaboratively throughout the college.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
