Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or a related field is required
  • Work experience in business and /or industry or CTE education
  • Strong computer skills to develop and utilize spreadsheets, student and employer databases, and the College's student data management system
  • Preferred work experience in a related Work-Based Learning field

Position Description

The Work-Based Learning Career and Technical Education Specialist will be responsible for coordination of specific Work-Based Learning and associated duties under the supervision of Dean of Student Services and cooperation with the Career Connections Coordinator.
The Work-Based Learning Career and Technical Education Specialist is a grant funded position.

  • Assist the Career Connections Coordinator with Career and Technical Education related activities and needs
  • Assist CTE students with career exploration and the administering of interest inventories
  • Participate in required orientation of each WBL student
  • Assist CTE students by developing and recommending Work-Based Learning objectives
  • Assist CTE students with job search and job referral and follow up on placement of students
  • Work cooperatively with campus instructors in identifying eligible CTE students for WBL positions
  • Work with instructors who have WBL experiences as part of their CTE related programs by providing workbooks, materials, speaking to classes and working with students to complete necessary paperwork for class
  • Plan postings for WBL boards and specialty boards across campus
  • Coordinate goals, action plans, and outcomes for program
  • Update and follow up on current job listings
  • Assist students with proper interviewing techniques and resume preparation
  • Assist with maintaining LCC's College Central Network site
  • Assist students and employers with College Central Network
  • Regularly visit employers in the service area to market and create WBL internships and work experiences for CTE students
  • Assist in making required on-site visits each semester and obtaining employer evaluations for CTE students
