Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, industrial education, instructional design or discipline related to the assigned workforce training area from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in designing, providing, and/or coordinating industry-specific training in higher education, business or the public sector; or Associate’s degree in any of those same disciplines from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in designing, providing, and/or coordinating industry-specific training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
~TIME-LIMITED FULL-TIME POSITION (UP TO 3 YEARS)~
Primary duty station will be at a Community College, within the Piedmont Triad Prosperity Zone. Apprenticeship Regional Coordinator will be responsible for all counties within the Piedmont Triad Prosperity Zone, which will include the following: Alamance, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin.
The Apprenticeship Regional Coordinator is responsible for the promotion, development, registration, and servicing of all registered apprenticeships in their region. Upon completion of the program by an apprentice, the coordinator will ensure that all criterions for the required skilled training have been completed by the apprentice. This criterion is set forth by State and Federal apprenticeship rules and regulations. The Coordinator will then complete the process for completion so that a certificate is provided.
The Apprenticeship Regional Coordinator, along with the employer, assesses existing training needs, projects future needs, and designs training programs to accomplish immediate and long-term skill training goals. The Apprenticeship Regional Coordinator provides business and industry with the plan to develop skill standards and skill competencies.
The Apprenticeship Regional Coordinator will share best practices from existing apprenticeships throughout the state and trends in individual occupations that can update other sections of the state to facilitate program development. The Apprenticeship Regional Coordinator is responsible for bringing together industry groups for industry wide development of training that can be used statewide or in local industries or groups. The Apprenticeship Regional Coordinator oversees multiple projects and programs in various stages of development and is expected to allocate resources to best accomplish the goals of programs within projected time lines while meeting the obligations for performance and commitments for each program.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in all Microsoft applications is preferred. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidate needs considerable knowledge of and experience in marketing and industry development. Skills in marketing, presentations and project development, oral and written communication, and application of personnel computers for word processing, presentations and data entry. Must have a considerable understanding of organizational processes and program procedures in order to respond to the public inquiries and to provide interpretation to ApprenticeshipNC employees.
MANAGEMENT'S PREFERENCES: The applicant should possess proficiency in communication skills, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Internet.
