Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in education, business, communication, human services, or related field. Three years' experience in a higher education institution. Supervisory experience required. Administrative experience that includes fiscal accountability, program management and benchmark obtainment.

Master's Degree from an accredited institution in education, business, communication, human services, or related field. Three years' experience in a higher education institution. Position Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position reports directly to the Vice President for Workforce and Institutional Advancement. This position provides leadership and direction for workforce development (continuing education) which includes college and career readiness, recruitment, and the continuing education registrar. The position is responsible for planning and organizing the daily operation of multiple departments to include some or all the following: Assesses educational and training needs; Responds to requests for training from businesses and industries; Develops occupational extension and self-supporting in response to requests by the community and workforce; Assists in curriculum development for new and current courses. Implements new course offerings to include development of course outlines; recruitment and hiring of qualified instructors; and course schedule. Assists continuing education directors/coordinators with planning of other occupational extension programs. Provides information to local civic, economic, educational, and industrial groups upon request. Participates in professional development activities such as workshops, seminars, and conferences related to the program area. Conducts periodic announced and unannounced visits to classes to assess progress, evaluate effectiveness and deal with situations which may deviate from what is expected. Assists in identifying public and private resources to develop and sustain the activities and services. Serves on various college committees, local and business associations, and task forces to promote various continuing education programs. Represents the College positively to the community, business and industry and the media. Coordinate recruiting activities at service area high schools. Serves as Project Lead for special projects and initiatives as assigned including but not limited to Project Skill Up, SECU Continuing Education Scholarship, Ramp East Advanced Manufacturing Institute, and other initiatives, special projects and duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
An ability to identify the varied training and educational needs of the people in Roanoke-Chowan Community College service area. An ability to plan and set up classes on and off campus to help facilitate identified needs. An ability to coordinate educational efforts with various agencies, institutions, businesses and industries to supplement their training and educational capabilities. Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. An ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse educational, social, and/or economic levels. Have an understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy of community college education.
